Planning an upcoming trip and looking at Jetstar’s business class offering, but wondering if it’s worthwhile? We’ve done the hard yakka to dissect what’s included, and how it compares to economy class.

Where does Jetstar offer business class?

Jetstar currently offers business class seats on select international routes serviced by its Boeing 787 Dreamliner. These include Bali, Honolulu, Tokyo, Seoul, Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok.

The aircraft are configured with 21 business class seats in a 2-3-2 configuration, and 314 economy seats.

Jetstar announced a significant fleet renewal program in November 2023 that will see its Dreamliners reconfigured with 44 business class seats instead, as well as new business class seats and inflight Wi-Fi. Detailed design work is currently underway, with upgrades to be completed from late 2025.

What does Jetstar business class include over economy class?

When flying business class with Jetstar, the following benefits are included:

  • Priority boarding - board the plane first, and get comfy while the rest of the passengers are coming onboard

  • Wider seats with more pitch than economy - 97cm of pitch and a width of 19 inches (48 centimetres)

  • Premium food, wine and additional snacks if you’re still hungry

  • Comfort pack and noise-cancelling headphones

Additionally, if you purchase the Business Class Max bundle you also gain access to:

  • Lounge access at Qantas Club or Jetstar partner lounges (if available)

  • No change fees for flight changes - though a fee will still apply for cancellations or fare differences

  • Ability to earn Qantas points and status credits, Jetstar flight rewards voucher or Emirates Skywards Miles loyalty points

How does Jetstar’s business class seat compare to other airlines?

It’s fair to say that Jetstar’s business class offering can best be compared to a premium economy seat on most full-service airlines such as Qantas or Emirates.

While the seat is an upgrade from economy, it’s important to note that it doesn’t convert into a lie-flat bed as you’d expect on premium airlines.

That said, if purchasing the typically more expensive Business Class Max bundle then you are getting a more premium experience with lounge access at the airport and the ability to earn loyalty points or status credits.

Is Jetstar business class worth it?

Ultimately the decision is yours to make. However, if you’re able to get a business class ticket on sale and you’re heading on a lengthy international flight then Jetstar business class is worth considering.

Consider the time of your flight too, as daytime flights may be more enjoyable given the seat doesn’t lie-flat. That said, the extra leg room and width over an economy seat can make longer flights more enjoyable.

Upgrading to the Business Class Max bundle can also often times be a cheaper way to gain Qantas points and status credits than if you were to fly on a Qantas flight.
