Melbourne Airport has numerous Qantas lounges available, depending on your flight travel class and Qantas Club or frequent flyer membership tier. In this post, we’ll take a look at what lounges are available to you.

Domestic travel

Travelling domestic within Australia? All Qantas domestic lounges can be found in Melbourne Airport’s T1 terminal.

Qantas Club lounge

Eligibility Criteria: Platinum or gold frequent flyer tier, Qantas Club member or a lounge pass (see full eligibility criteria here)

The Qantas Club domestic lounge at Melbourne Airport is situated within Terminal 1. After passing through security, turn right and then left into the escalators that take you up to Qantas’ domestic lounge area.

Once you reach the top of the escalators, turn right and you’ll be able to scan in to the Qantas Club lounge.

As usual, in Melbourne the Qantas Club lounge doesn’t have the same amazing views of the aircraft as the business lounge does. But you’ll still get access to other lounge benefits including food, drinks and a place to rest.

This lounge opens one hour prior to the first flight of the day, and closes with the last Qantas departure.

Business lounge

Eligibility criteria: Platinum Qantas frequent flyer or flying on a business class domestic airfare (see full eligibility criteria here)

Similar to the Qantas Club lounge, the Business lounge can be accessed after you’ve passed through airport security. Turn right out of the security lanes, and then take a quick left into the escalators to the lounges.

At the top of the escalators turn left, and you’ll be asked to scan your boarding pass for entry to the lounge. In Melbourne, the Business lounge has amazing views over the tarmac, a barista and bar and food that you can snack on before your flight.

Similar to the Qantas Club lounge, this lounge opens one hour prior to the first flight of the day, and closes with the last Qantas departure.

Chairman’s lounge

Eligibility criteria: Invite only

This lounge is exclusive for those lucky enough to score an invite to the Chairman’s Lounge. Typically reserved for celebrities and politicians, once invited you’ll gain access for up to two years at a time.

You’ll need to be flying on the same day to access the lounge, and bar service will be available once you arrive.

The exact location of this lounge is kept private in order to maintain its exclusivity. But access is available from within the Melbourne Airport domestic terminal, once passed through security.

International travel

If you’re heading overseas, then Qantas has two international lounges available within Melbourne Airport.

Melbourne International Business lounge

Eligibility Criteria: Platinum or gold frequent flyer tier, Qantas Club member or a lounge pass (see full eligibility criteria here)

Also known by some as the “Melbourne Dungeon”, the International lounge is available once you’ve passed through security via an escalator from the concourse. It’s well-signed, so you shouldn’t miss the entrance.

Unfortunately there are no windows in the lounge (hence the nickname) so if it’s sunlight you’re after then this lounge isn’t for you. It does however offer food, beverages and a place to relax before your long flight.

Showers are also available, alongside free Wi-Fi and couches. This lounge is open daily between 5:15am and 11:15pm.

Melbourne International First lounge

Eligibility Criteria: Platinum Qantas frequent flyer or flying on a business class domestic airfare (see full eligibility criteria here)

If you’re lucky enough to be flying first class with Qantas, you can access the exclusive First lounge on Level 3, via the escalator near Gates 9 and 10.

Alongside all the normal lounge benefits, a spa is provided as is a library in case reading is more your thing.

Similar to the Qantas International Business lounge, this lounge is only open between 5:15am and 11:15pm each day.
