If you’re planning an international flight from Australia, you might want to consider Rex after the airline announced a new partnership with Etihad Airways.
The announcement means Rex now has partnerships with both Etihad and Delta Air Lines. While Delta is focused primarily on the US market, Etihad adds a further 72 destinations around the world for Rex customers.
Rex will provide connecting flights within Australia, to ferry passengers to key airports Etihad flies to including Sydney and Melbourne.
“Partnering with a world-class airline like Etihad brings a new era of choice and connection for Rex passengers,” Rex’s General Manager of Network Strategy, Warrick Lodge said in a statement.
Having a single booking for both Etihad and Rex flights has advantages. For example, your bags will be through-checked to your destination where possible. However, make sure you confirm this during check in as some destinations don’t allow through-checking.
Flights that have an Australian domestic leg via Rex can now be booked online via Etihad’s website. Alternatively you can book via trusted travel agents online or in person. At this stage you can’t book these flights via Rex’s website.
Virgin Australia will remain Etihad’s primary partner Guest partner for Australian travellers. So you might need to search the Etihad website to find Australia flights with Rex.
