If you’re looking to travel to regional Australia, Virgin Australia now offers you the ability to purchase codeshare flights with Link Airways.

You can now book codeshare flights that will be flown by Link Airways via Virgin Australia’s website. The partnership was first announced on the 18th January, 2024 and followed a partnership granting customers flying Link on Flex and Freedom fares access to Virgin’s lounges from 2022.

Virgin says the new partnership will expand its regional footprint by “approximately 45 percent”. It will allow Virgin customers to fly to new destinations not currently served by major airlines such as Inverell, Wollongong, and Bileola.

In total, 17 new return routes have been added from Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra to regional destinations. These include:

  • Brisbane to Coffs Harbour

Link Airways has 14 aircraft, and flights include complimentary tea, coffee, water and a small snack. Link has two small aircraft types in its fleet - the Saab 340B Plus, and the Metro 23.

Velocity Platinum, Gold and Silver members will also be eligible to earn bonus points and receive an additional baggage allowance when flying on eligible fares. If you’re a Velocity member you’ll also be able to access the Virgin lounge where available.

If you’re a Velocity member, you can earn points and status credits when flying with Link. As usual, the number of points and status credits you earn is based on the class you’re flying, distance, fare type and promotional offer.
